'Come Visit Us' - Lifeboat Station Open Days

The lifeboat station is open on most days during the year to casual visitors and to organised groups, but over the weekend of 26 & 27 June there will be lots of other activities for those who are interested in the work of the RNLI and Littlehampton Lifeboat Station in particular. The crew will be on hand to chat with visitors about some of their experiences and explain how everything works.

The boats and equipment will be on display, and rescue demonstrations are planned with our two lifeboats, and visiting all-weather lifeboats from our flank stations at Shoreham and Selsey. Operational commitments allowing, we also expect a visit from the coastguard rescue helicopter, which wil exercise with the lifeboats within view of the harbour entrance.

Welcome to Littlehampton RNLI SOS day 2010!

SOS day is the RNLI’s biggest fundraising day of the year and it’s a great way to get 2010 off to a cracking start, while helping to save lives at sea. Anyone can take part, anywhere and anyhow!  See what you can do to join in and do something to support the RNLI this SOS day. 

On SOS day in 2009, Littlehampton lifeboat crew members together with supporters wheeled their inshore lifeboat from the lifeboat station into the High Street, and the generous shoppers and shopkeepers of Littlehampton donated more than £1,000, one of the largest amounts collected during SOS day in the south east of England. Our crew and supporters will be doing the same again this year, the day after SOS day, on Saturday 30 January.

The Littlehampton crew would like to encourage everyone in and around the Littlehampton area to run their own events to raise funds and help to beat the total that was raised last year. There are lots of ideas on the RNLI’s website www.rnli.org.uk/sosday, with the ‘Do Something’ section offering ideas for prospective SOSers at school, at work, or anywhere else. There’s also a fundraising kit and materials to help you promote your activity, with downloadable posters and other materials to help you to run your SOS day fundraising event. We can also arrange for you to visit the lifeboat station and meet the crew, to present the SOS money that you have raised.
